Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers Roll Past Neoga Indians in Regional Opener

On Monday night, February 16 at 6 PM, the Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers hosted the Neoga Indians in the second girls regional basketball game of the 2026 postseason. With a packed gym at Mount Pulaski High School, the Lady Hilltoppers delivered a dominant performance from start to finish.

First Half

Mount Pulaski wasted no time setting the tone. After winning the opening tip, the Hilltoppers quickly converted their first possession into points — an early sign of what the next four quarters would look like. Their fast pace, sharp ball movement, and hot shooting overwhelmed Neoga from the outset.

By the end of the first quarter, Mount Pulaski had built a commanding 19-9 lead. The Hilltoppers continued to pour it on in the second quarter, finding success from all areas of the floor. Nearly every shot seemed to fall, and defensively, they limited Neoga’s opportunities while controlling the boards.

Despite the Indians’ effort to slow down Mount Pulaski’s offense, they struggled to contain the relentless attack. At halftime, the Hilltoppers held a decisive 49-19 advantage.

Second Half

If there were any expectations of a slowdown after the break, Mount Pulaski quickly erased them. The Hilltoppers came out of the locker room with the same — if not more — intensity than they showed in the first half. While teams often lose momentum as the game wears on, Mount Pulaski appeared energized, extending their lead with continued efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure.

Neoga battled to box out and secure rebounds, trying to create second-chance opportunities and generate offense. However, Mount Pulaski’s depth and pace proved too much to overcome.

By the fourth quarter, the running clock was in effect. The Hilltoppers maintained control the rest of the way, sealing a dominant 72-27 victory.

With the win, Mount Pulaski advances in the 2026 girls regional tournament and will return to action Thursday night, February 19, looking to continue their postseason run.
