On Thursday night at 7 p.m. inside Pleasant Plains High School, the Pleasant Plains girls basketball team wasted no time asserting control, soaring past the Rochester Rockets in a dominant 78–30 victory.
From the opening tip, the Cardinals took flight and never looked back. Pleasant Plains won the tip-off and attacked the basket immediately, scoring the first points of the game and setting the tone early. Rochester quickly realized the Cardinals meant business, as Pleasant Plains applied relentless pressure on both ends of the floor.
Aggressive, high-intensity defense fueled the Cardinals’ early surge. Steals, forced turnovers, and interceptions led to easy scoring opportunities, allowing Pleasant Plains to build a commanding lead. Even when shots didn’t fall, the Cardinals controlled the glass, securing offensive rebounds and converting second-chance points throughout the night.
Rochester struggled to find any offensive rhythm against the swarming Cardinal defense. Open looks were hard to come by each quarter, forcing the Rockets to rely heavily on contested shots and trips to the free-throw line for points. Without consistent shooting opportunities or control of the rebounds, Rochester was unable to generate momentum.
Pleasant Plains never let up, maintaining pressure and pace until the final buzzer. When the game ended, the scoreboard told the story: a convincing 78–30 win for the Cardinals.
On Thursday night, Pleasant Plains truly took flight, leaving the Rockets grounded from start to finish.
