The Clinton Lady Maroons were pushed to the limit Friday night on the road, but once again found a way to win, surviving a major scare against Heyworth and pulling out a 61–53 overtime victory to extend their winning streak to 11 straight games.
Clinton came out strong and looked in control early, building a 24–15 halftime lead behind solid defense and efficient offense. The Maroons were cruising and playing with confidence, appearing to have the game firmly in hand.
That momentum shifted in the third quarter as Heyworth turned up the pressure and began to chip away at the lead. The home team battled back with energy, forcing turnovers and hitting timely shots to close the gap. By the fourth quarter, the game had turned into a tense, back-and-forth battle, and it appeared Clinton’s winning streak might finally be in danger.
In the closing moments, with hope fading, senior Lilah Cluver delivered in the biggest way. Cluver attacked the basket and drew a crucial foul, calmly knocking down two free throws to tie the game and force overtime, keeping the Maroons’ season alive.
In the extra period, Clinton regrouped and took control. The Maroons’ experience and composure showed as they outscored Heyworth and sealed the 61–53 win.
Anderson led all scorers with a dominant 32-point performance, continuing her outstanding stretch of play and proving once again why she is one of the most dangerous scorers in the area. Lilah Cluver also had a big night, finishing with 12 points and controlling the paint as a powerful presence down low.
With the hard-fought road win, Clinton improves its streak to 11 straight victories, showing resilience, heart, and championship-level poise when it mattered most.
