The Williamsville Lady Bullets punched their ticket forward with a strong 6-1 win over the Tri-City Tornadoes behind timely hitting and solid pitching Wednesday night.
Williamsville wasted no time getting on the board in the second inning. Olivia Heigert crossed home plate after Ella Greer ripped a hard ground-ball single into right field to give the Lady Bullets the early 1-0 advantage.
The Lady Bullets broke the game open in the fourth inning with a four-run frame. Ella Greer reached on an error that allowed Mia Gallaher to score and extend the lead to 2-0. Moments later, Reese Larson delivered a huge two-run double to center field that brought home Shelby Pre Fountain and Joee Griffitts to make it 4-0. Olivia Heigert followed with an RBI single to right that scored Larson and pushed the lead to 5-0.
Tri-City answered in the bottom half of the fourth when Ellie Cummins drove a triple to right field, scoring Hayli Ferriell to cut the deficit to 5-1.
Williamsville added one final insurance run in the seventh inning as Kinleigh Peters crushed a solo home run to center field to seal the 6-1 victory.
Reese Larson led the Lady Bullets offensively, finishing 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Olivia Heigert added two hits and an RBI, while Kinleigh Peters homered and scored twice. Ella Greer also drove in a run for Williamsville.
Hannah Louis earned the win in the circle, tossing 5.1 innings while allowing just one run and striking out seven. Olivia Heigert also contributed in relief.
Tri-City collected eight hits in the loss, led by Audrey Cooper and Maebri Bender with two hits apiece. Ellie Cummins drove in the Tornadoes’ lone run with her RBI triple.
Williamsville finished with eight hits and played strong defense throughout as they continue their postseason run.
